CGC Adeniyi Endorses 2026 World Public Relations Forum, Emphasizes Strategic Communication

The Comptroller-General of Customs (CGC), Adewale Adeniyi, has pledged the support of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) for the successful hosting of the 2026 World Public Relations Forum (WPRF), scheduled for November 2026. He underscored the critical role of strategic communication in driving reforms within the Service.

Adeniyi made this commitment on Tuesday, 22 September 2026, during a courtesy visit by a delegation led by Professor Justin Green, President and CEO of the Global Alliance for Public Relations and Communication Management, alongside Ike Neliaku, President of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) and Chairman of Council.

Highlighting ongoing reforms such as B’Odogwu, the Authorised Economic Operator (AEO) programme, and Advance Ruling, the CGC noted that these initiatives aim to streamline Customs processes, enhance predictability for legitimate traders, and strengthen stakeholder trust.

“The Nigeria Customs Service recognises the importance of the World Public Relations Forum and its potential to spotlight responsible communication, institutional trust, and effective public service. I assure you of our full support and commitment to its success,” Adeniyi stated.

Professor Green described Nigeria’s hosting of WPRF 2026 as a landmark achievement for the country and the African public relations profession. He emphasized that the forum will showcase Nigeria’s cultural heritage, communication industry, and innovative approaches to public relations, while fostering global collaboration.

“We expect participation from all 126 member countries of the Global Alliance,” Green added.

Neliaku stressed the importance of engaging key institutions ahead of the event, noting that their involvement is vital to delivering what he described as the “best, biggest, and brightest” World Public Relations Forum.

The forum will take place in Abuja from 15 to 21 November 2026 under the theme: “Responsible Communication: The Voice of the World.”
