KLT Customs Boosts Revenue by 35% Under Acting Comptroller Adigun

The Acting Customs Area Controller of the Kirikiri Lighter Terminal (KLT) Command, Deputy Comptroller Bolaji Lukman Adigun, has announced a significant revenue increase for June 2026. The Command generated ₦19.4 billion, up from ₦14.3 billion in June 2025 — a 35% rise amounting to ₦5.04 billion.

Adigun attributed the growth to officers’ dedication, improved stakeholder compliance, enhanced trade facilitation, and intelligence-driven strategies.

During a media briefing on July 30, 2026, Adigun highlighted the interception of a 40-foot container of expired disposable vapes valued at ₦809.7 million. The seized consignment contained over 182,000 pieces with expiry dates ranging from 2022 to 2026, posing serious public health risks. The Command has begun handing over the items to relevant agencies for proper disposal.

Adigun emphasized that while the Command facilitates legitimate trade, it remains firm in enforcement to protect Nigeria’s economy and citizens. He urged importers and agents to comply strictly with regulations and take advantage of initiatives like the Authorized Economic Operator (AEO) Programme and the Advance Ruling system to ease business processes.

He expressed gratitude to Comptroller-General Bashir Adewale Adeniyi and his management team for their leadership, commended officers for their resilience, and acknowledged stakeholders and partner agencies for their cooperation. Adigun reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to consolidating gains in revenue generation, trade facilitation, and enforcement.
