Customs Releases ₦7.61 Billion to PFAs for 4,237 Retirees
CGC Adeniyi Engages Senior Citizens, Reassures on Welfare
The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has disbursed ₦7.61 billion to nine Pension Fund Administrators (PFAs) for prompt payment to 4,237 retirees, reaffirming its commitment to them welfare of former personnel.
Comptroller-General of Customs, Adewale Adeniyi, announced the release during a dialogue with retirees on Tuesday, 14 July 2026, noting that the funds had already been transferred to PFAs for onward payment into individual accounts.

Access-ARM Pension Managers has 1,223 retirees, Premium Pension has 2,268 retirees, Leadway Pensions has 403 retirees, TrustFund Pensions has 156 retirees, FCMB Pensions has 144 retirees, Veritas Glanvills Pensions has 28 retirees, Norrenberger Pensions has 11 retirees, while Fidelity Pension Managers has 4 retirees.
Adeniyi emphasized that the Service must remain financially capable of meeting obligations to both serving officers and retirees, stressing that the welfare of those who dedicated decades of service is inseparable from the institution’s future.

He urged retirees to maintain constructive engagement, saying:
“We called for this dialogue to promote better understanding and reduce the effect of rumours and unofficial information on our relationship with retired personnel.”
The session was attended by DCG Tijjani Abe, Deputy Comptroller-General in charge of Human Resources Development, alongside other management members, who assured retirees that their concerns would be addressed at board and management levels.
Retirees expressed appreciation for the initiative and appealed for sustained dialogue to strengthen ties between serving officers and retired personnel.
The meeting comes amid ongoing efforts to improve pensions following the Federal Government’s review of statutory provisions, including Section 15(4) of the Pension Reform Act 2014 and Section 173(3) of the 1999 Constitution (as amended).
