Stakeholders Discuss Transport Efficiency, Safety in Lagos
Policymakers, industry leaders, and transport experts gathered in Lagos for the annual Global Transport Policy (GTP) Multimodal Roundtable, themed “Transforming Nigeria’s Transport System: Integrating Solutions for Safety, Efficiency and Sustainability.”
The event featured keynote addresses, panel discussions, and awards recognizing outstanding contributions to the sector.
Representing the Lagos State Governor, Mr. Abimbola Akinajo, Managing Director of the Lagos Metropolitan Area Transport Authority (LAMATA), highlighted the state’s investments in road, rail, and water transport infrastructure. He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to sustainable, integrated policies designed to meet the growing demands of residents and businesses.
In his opening remarks, Hon. Dr. Olusegun Musa, Chairman and Chief Consultant of GTP, stressed the importance of collaboration among government agencies, private operators, and professionals in building a safer, more efficient transport system.
The Chairman of the occasion, Air Commodore (Rtd.) Ademola Onitiju, underscored GTP’s role in shaping dialogue and advancing practical solutions to sector challenges.
Delivering a keynote presentation, Dr. Boboye Oyeyemi, President of the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (CILT), emphasized innovation, effective policy implementation, and sustainable practices as drivers of economic growth and national development.
The roundtable concluded with awards presented to distinguished individuals and organizations for their contributions to transport development, safety, and sustainability.
Held at the Marriott Hotel, GRA Ikeja, the annual GTP Multimodal Roundtable served as a strategic platform for dialogue, knowledge sharing, and recognition of excellence within Nigeria’s transport sector.
