Ogun 1 Customs Intercepts ₦417m Range Rover, Cannabis, Others Worth N2.47bn
The Ogun I Area Command of the Nigeria Customs Service has intercepted contraband worth ₦2.47 billion in Duty Paid Value (DPV), including a brand-new 2025 Range Rover Sport Autobiography P530 valued at ₦417 million.

Acting Customs Area Controller, Deputy Comptroller Olukayode Afeni, disclosed the seizures during a briefing at Idiroko, noting that the operation was carried out between August 14 and September 2026 through intelligence-led enforcement strategies.

A breakdown of the seized items revealed
1,204 bags of 50kg foreign parboiled rice,
3,893 parcels of Cannabis Sativa weighing 1.878 tonnes, 428 pneumatic tyres, 8,675 litres of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), 24 bales of second-hand clothing, four sacks of used shoes, and 500 litres of diesel.
Afeni stressed that the Command remains committed to suppressing smuggling, facilitating legitimate trade, and protecting government revenue. He warned that attempts to evade statutory duties would be frustrated.
The cannabis parcels were handed over to the NDLEA Idiroko Special Command. NDLEA Commander Akande Olatunji who praised the synergy among Customs, NDLEA, Police, Immigration, DSS, and the Army, declaring Idiroko a “no-go area” for drug traffickers.
Olatunji warned of the dire consequences if such volumes of illicit drugs entered circulation, urging communities, institutions, and media to intensify sensitization against drug abuse.
Afeni highlighted ongoing outreach to traditional rulers, youth leaders, and border communities to build trust and reduce hostilities during enforcement. He also noted the Command’s corporate social responsibility initiatives and its recent victory in the Inter-Command Athletic Competition.
