Hope Rises Again: Lilypond ANLCA New Executive Vows to Revamp Deserted Export Terminal

The Association of Nigerian Licensed Customs Agents (ANCLA), Lilypond Export Chapter, has inaugurated a new executive council with a bold mandate: to revive the long-deserted command after more than six years of inactivity.

At the introduction ceremony held last week Thursday, the newly elected Chairman, Hon. Prince Segun Adefioye, a certified shipping practitioner, recounted his personal sacrifices in sustaining the chapter. He revealed that for four years he had used his own resources to gather members, following a call from Prince Taye Oyeniyi to revive the chapter.

“Since then, nobody assisted me. I used my own personal money and resources. Thank God the national headquarters recognized that I have been doing this and that I am the person who can gather our members,” Adefioye said.

The Chairman assured members that welfare would be a priority under his leadership.

“We promise them that with the help of God, they will not be disappointed. Whatever resources we have will be used to assist them so they can function again,” he pledged.

He also urged members to strictly abide by government policies and regulations governing both export and import activities.

Adefioye identified the absence of a secretariat as the chapter’s biggest challenge.

“If there is rain, we just find where to stay. If there is sun, same thing. We are appealing to the headquarters to assist us, but I know as a leader I will find a solution with my personal effort. God will see us through,” he said.

Committees are to be constituted immediately, with plans already underway for a befitting secretariat.

The Chairman emphasized that rebuilding Lilypond is a collective responsibility.

“This task does not belong to the Executives alone. We need your advice, wisdom, suggestions, and constructive criticism. Together, we shall arrive at the promised land of progress and sustainable development,” he declared.

In his own speech, Secretary, Mr. Awonuga Olatubosun Abdulazeez expressed joy at his appointment, describing his role as the “engine room” of the chapter, promising efficiency and dedication.

Assistant Secretary General, Mr. Chukwuemeka George Nnawulezie stressed that exports are vital to national growth and pledged that the executive will organize seminars to educate members on the importance of exports to the economy.

The Public Relations Officer, Hon. Olusola Joseph Olalekan: highlighted plans to make Lilypond a training ground for clearing agents, noting that many practitioners lack knowledge of export procedures. He emphasized that training would create employment opportunities for Nigerians.

The event drew elders, past chairmen, former executives, distinguished colleagues, and members of the press, underscoring the significance of the chapter’s rebirth.
