Adeleke Reconstitutes UNIOSUN Governing Council, Retains Oladipo as Chairman

Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has dissolved the Governing Council of Osun State University (UNIOSUN) and immediately constituted a new council to further strengthen the institution’s governance and ensure uninterrupted administration.

The governor announced the development in a statement issued on Friday in Osogbo, explaining that the decision was aimed at sustaining continuity in the management and operations of the university.

The newly constituted council will be chaired by Sooko, Prof. Adewale Abiodun Oladipo, who also served as chairman of the dissolved council.

Other members of the council are Alhaji Gbadegesin Lawal; Her Excellency, Otunba Titi Laoye Ponnle; Mr Akinola Franklin Omoniyi; Chief Funminiyi Awotide; Mr Orija Samuel Adebayo; and Mrs Adewale Adetayo Bola.

Adeleke urged the new council to consolidate on the achievements recorded by the university and provide the necessary support to enable the institution to attain greater heights.

He specifically charged members of the council to “sustain the excellent record of the University” and “support the university management for further innovative deliveries.”

According to the statement, the reconstitution of the council was also designed to prevent any gap in the operations of the globally rated institution.

The governor expressed confidence that the new council would make meaningful contributions to the continued growth, development and effective administration of UNIOSUN.

The inauguration of the newly constituted Governing Council is scheduled to hold on Monday, August 31, 2026.
