Nollywood Veteran Taiwo Hassan ‘Ogogo’ Dies After Prolonged Cancer Battle
Veteran Nollywood actor Taiwo Hassan, popularly known as Ogogo, has reportedly died after a prolonged battle with cancer.
The renowned Yoruba actor died on Sunday, barely two months before his 67th birthday.
His daughter, Kira Taiwo, disclosed the development during a live session on social media while providing an update on her father’s health.
Ogogo’s death came only days after his daughter revealed that the actor was battling stage-four cancer. The disclosure had triggered an outpouring of support, including donations from politicians, colleagues, and his numerous fans.
Efforts had also been made to secure quality medical treatment for the veteran actor. Reports indicated that the Ogun State All Progressives Congress governorship candidate, Adeola Olamilekan, popularly known as Yayi, provided financial support towards his treatment.
Ogogo was one of the prominent figures in Yoruba-language Nollywood, earning widespread recognition for his versatility and ability to portray diverse characters.
His reported death is expected to generate tributes from colleagues, fans, and other stakeholders in Nigeria’s entertainment industry.
The Chief Imam of Ilaro, Alhaji Tajudeen Adewunmi,announced that the Janazah( burial prayer will be held on monday at the Asade Agunloye Pavilion Ground Ilaro by 10.00 a.m
The Ilaro Muslim Community in a press statement signed by the Chief Imam, extended its heartfelt condolences to the family of the deceased and prays that Allah grants him Al-Jannatul fridaus and gives the family the strength to bear the loss
