Wild Jubilation in Igboho as Kidnapped Family Freed After Igboho’s 2-Hour Ultimatum

There was wild jubilation in Igboho, Oyo State, after a kidnapped family — including a pregnant woman, her children, and a sibling — was released following a two-hour ultimatum issued by Yoruba nation activist, Sunday Adeyemo, popularly known as Sunday Igboho.

Residents poured into the streets in celebration, singing and dancing as the victims returned home. Videos circulating on social media captured the excitement, with locals hailing the release as a moment of relief after days of tension.

The development came shortly after Igboho addressed community leaders and security stakeholders in a viral video, where he condemned rising cases of abduction and killings in Igboho and surrounding areas. He accused criminal elements of terrorising residents and warned that such incidents must not continue in his hometown.

Referring to past ransom negotiations that ended in tragedy, Igboho declared:

“The person who brought the ransom, you still killed him and spared only one person.”

Issuing a stern two-hour ultimatum, he warned that failure to release the abducted family could trigger decisive action.

“I am Sunday Igboho. I am calm because my fathers asked me to be calm with you. Let this be the last time such a thing will happen,” he said.

Shortly after, reports of the family’s release spread, sparking jubilant scenes across the town. While the exact circumstances of their freedom remain unclear, the incident has once again drawn attention to worsening insecurity in Oyo State, where residents have repeatedly raised alarm over kidnappings and violent attacks.
