One Day to DataPro Webinar: Nigeria’s 2030 Investment-Grade Dream Faces Fiscal Reform Test

Nigeria’s ambition to attain an investment-grade sovereign credit rating by 2030 will come under intense scrutiny on Thursday as financial experts and policymakers converge virtually to examine the fiscal reforms and structural changes required to strengthen the country’s economic standing and attract more global capital.

The debate will take centre stage at the sixth International Rating Webinar organised by DataPro Limited, scheduled for October 8, 2026, at 2pm West Africa Time, with the theme, “Sovereign Credit Rating: Africa’s Roadmap to Investment-Grade Status.”

The high-level webinar is expected to examine the strategies, fiscal discipline and institutional reforms required to move African economies towards investment-grade ratings and improve their access to international capital.

The Minister of State for Budget and Economic Planning, Dr Doris Uzoka-Anite, CFA, will deliver the keynote address titled “Achieving Investment-Grade Rating by 2030: The Roadmap for Nigeria.”

Her presentation is expected to focus attention on Nigeria’s medium-term economic strategy and the policy measures required to improve the country’s sovereign credit profile by the end of the decade.

The webinar will also feature an expert panel comprising financial and economic specialists drawn from the Ministry of Finance Incorporated, African Peer Review Mechanism, RWI-Essen, Credit Rating Research Initiative and the University of Bern.

The discussions are expected to provide insights into how stronger fiscal management, credible institutions, sustainable debt strategies and structural reforms can help African economies improve their sovereign ratings and attract long-term investment.

DataPro said the programme would provide stakeholders with an opportunity to understand the practical steps required to transform Africa’s creditworthiness and position its economies to compete more effectively for global capital.

The webinar comes against the backdrop of growing efforts by Nigeria and other African economies to strengthen their fiscal positions, deepen economic reforms and improve investor confidence.

For Nigeria, achieving an investment-grade rating by 2030 would represent a significant improvement in its sovereign credit standing, potentially lowering borrowing costs, widening access to international capital and strengthening the country’s attractiveness to institutional investors.

The free webinar is open to registered participants and is scheduled to begin at 14:00 WAT on Thursday, October 8, 2026.
