Nigeria’s B Rating Upgrade: DataPro Webinar to Chart Roadmap to Investment Grade
Nigeria’s B Rating Upgrade: DataPro Webinar to Chart Roadmap to Investment Grade
Nigeria’s recent sovereign credit rating upgrade from B- to B will come under scrutiny as policymakers, financial experts, investors and other stakeholders converge virtually on Thursday, October 8, 2026, for DataPro’s 6th International Rating Webinar.
The webinar, which will hold from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. West Africa Time, is themed “Sovereign Credit Rating: Africa’s Roadmap to Investment-Grade Status.”

Organisers said the event has become particularly important following Nigeria’s rating upgrade, noting that although the development represents an improvement in the country’s credit profile, a B rating remains below investment-grade status.
According to DataPro, the key issue is no longer simply why investment-grade status matters, but what Nigeria and other African economies must do to move further up the rating scale and sustain such progress.
The webinar is expected to examine strategies for strengthening investor confidence, improving sovereign credibility and creating economic conditions capable of attracting and retaining international investment.
The discussions will also focus on the broader challenges confronting African economies seeking to improve their sovereign credit profiles, including the need to strengthen economic fundamentals, implement relevant reforms and sustain improvements in fiscal and institutional performance.
Uzoka-Anite to Present Nigeria’s 2030 Roadmap
The keynote address will be delivered by the Minister of State for Budget and Economic Planning, Dr. Doris Uzoka-Anite, CFA, who will speak on “Achieving Investment-Grade Rating by 2030: The Roadmap for Nigeria.”
Her participation is expected to provide a direct policy perspective on the reforms, economic governance measures and policy priorities required to strengthen Nigeria’s sovereign credit profile.
DataPro said the webinar would also examine international experiences, with participants exploring how countries that have successfully improved their sovereign ratings combined fiscal management, economic diversification, institutional development and financial resilience.
The event will bring together policymakers, development institutions, financial market operators, investors and corporate stakeholders to discuss sovereign credit ratings, reform priorities, investor confidence and the prospects of achieving investment-grade status.
The organisers said the October 8 conversation would go beyond Nigeria’s recent rating upgrade to address the practical steps required to improve sovereign creditworthiness and sustain economic progress across Africa.
