Customs Renovates Ife Girls’ High School, Announces Varsity Scholarships

The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has commissioned the fully renovated Ife Girls’ High School in Ile-Ife, Osun State, under its “Customs Cares” Corporate Social Responsibility Initiative on Monday, 14 September 2026.

Speaking at the commissioning, the Comptroller-General of Customs (CGC), Adewale Adeniyi, encouraged students to remain steadfast in their pursuit of education:

“Education is the passport you need for a better life, for a better future—not just for you, but for your parents, your community, and the country. It is education that will make the difference in you, irrespective of how difficult it may seem.”

To further inspire academic excellence, Adeniyi announced university scholarships for the school’s top three students, describing it as a challenge for them to rise to the occasion:

“What this means is that I have thrown the ball into your court. I now want you to reward me back. What we are doing today is part of our wider corporate social responsibility programme, which we are executing in different parts of the country.”

Osun State Commissioner for Education, Honourable Dipo Eluwole, hailed the intervention as a milestone for education in the state. He emphasized that the project went beyond physical renovation:

“This is indeed a comprehensive intervention. It addresses the school’s educational, administrative, sanitary, recreational, environmental, and worker needs. It demonstrates an understanding that for students to learn effectively, their physical environment must also support their well-being.”

In her welcome address, Principal Martina Akinremi expressed gratitude to the NCS for investing in the future of the students. She pledged that the school would ensure the facilities are properly maintained and maximized for learning.
