Apapa Customs Sets Historic ₦28 Billion Single-Day Revenue Record

The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Apapa Area Command, has achieved another landmark feat, generating ₦28,102,000,914.61 in a single day — the highest daily revenue ever recorded by the Command. This surpasses the previous record of ₦20.1 billion set in September 2025, shortly after Comptroller Emmanuel Oshoba assumed office as Customs Area Controller (CAC).

According to a press statement issued by CSC Isah Sulaimam, Public Relations Officer of the Command, this milestone follows closely on the heels of the Command’s unprecedented ₦323 billion monthly revenue collection in July 2026, underscoring the sustained impact of reforms, enhanced compliance, trade facilitation, intelligence-driven interventions, and the efficiency of digital Customs processes.

Comptroller Oshoba emphasized that the achievement goes beyond figures, highlighting the Service’s role in strengthening Nigeria’s economic wellbeing. He noted that Customs revenue forms part of government resources used to fund infrastructure, security, education, healthcare, and other public priorities that directly benefit citizens.

“Every compliant transaction contributes to national development. A stronger revenue base gives government greater capacity to meet the needs of the people and create an environment where businesses can thrive,” Oshoba stated.

He dedicated the milestone to the Government and people of Nigeria, commending Comptroller-General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, MFR, PhD, and the Service’s management team for their support in driving modernization, automation, and reforms.

The CAC also acknowledged the cooperation of compliant importers, exporters, licensed Customs agents, and patriotic Nigerians who provided actionable intelligence. He urged stakeholders to continue supporting legitimate trade, stressing that revenue collection must align with professionalism, transparency, and respect for stakeholders.

Oshoba charged officers and men of the Command to view the record not as a point of complacency but as a responsibility to achieve more. He directed personnel to resolve legitimate disputes promptly and ensure Customs procedures do not hinder lawful businesses.
