NPA Donates Security Equipment to Ports Authority Police

The Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) has donated critical security accoutrements to the Ports Authority Police (Western Command) in a bid to strengthen safety and security across Nigeria’s seaports and waterfronts.

The donation was made on behalf of the NPA Managing Director, Dr. Abubakar Dantsoho, by the Port Manager of Lagos Port Complex, Mr. Adebowale Lawal, who was accompanied by senior officials of the Authority.

Speaking at the presentation, Mr. Lawal emphasized that the gesture reflects NPA’s unwavering commitment to enhancing the security architecture of the nation’s ports. He noted that the provision of modern equipment would bolster the operational effectiveness of the Ports Authority Police in safeguarding maritime infrastructure, ensuring the safety of port users, and preventing security breaches.

The items presented included:
– Bulletproof vests
– Tactical helmets
– Raincoats
– Touch lights
– Handcuffs
– Operational boots
– Batons
– Other essential policing gear

Receiving the equipment, Commissioner of Police, Western Command, CP Oluwatoyin Agbaminoja, psc, mnips, expressed deep appreciation to the NPA management for the timely intervention. She described the donation as a testament to the strong partnership between the NPA and the Nigeria Police Force in securing the nation’s maritime gateways.

CP Agbaminoja assured that the equipment would be judiciously deployed to enhance policing operations and reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to maintaining a safe and conducive environment for port operations, trade facilitation, and economic growth. She pledged sustained collaboration with maritime stakeholders to ensure Nigeria’s seaports remain secure and globally competitive.
