The Commissioner of Police, Ports Authority Police (Western) Command, CP Oluwatoyin Iyabode Agbaminoja, psc, mnips, has paid a courtesy visit to the Chinese Consulate in Lagos as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen collaboration between the Nigeria Police Force and the Chinese business community operating within Nigeria’s maritime sector.

The Commissioner was warmly received by the Consul General of the People’s Republic of China in Lagos, Yan Yuqing, who welcomed the initiative and reaffirmed the importance of sustained engagement between both institutions.

During the visit, CP Agbaminoja held productive discussions with the Consul General and other officials of the Chinese Consulate on matters of mutual interest, particularly port security, maritime safety, and the protection of Chinese nationals and businesses operating within Nigeria’s seaports and logistics corridors.

CP Agbaminoja emphasized the Command’s unwavering commitment to ensuring a secure and conducive environment for legitimate business activities within the ports. She noted that the Ports Authority Police (Western) Command remains steadfast in its mandate to safeguard critical maritime infrastructure, prevent criminal activities, and enhance the overall security architecture of Nigeria’s ports.

Discussions also highlighted the need to strengthen information sharing, capacity building, and proactive measures to address emerging security concerns that may impact trade facilitation and maritime commerce.

In her remarks, Consul General Yan Yuqing expressed appreciation for the efforts of the Nigeria Police Force, particularly the Ports Authority Police (Western) Command, in ensuring the safety of port users, Chinese nationals, and foreign investors. She reiterated the Consulate’s commitment to continued collaboration with the Nigeria Police Force in promoting peace, security, and economic development.

The Ports Authority Police (Western) Command remains dedicated to working with all stakeholders to ensure that Nigeria’s ports continue to serve as safe, secure, and globally competitive gateways for international trade.
