NAGAFF Kicks Off Chapter Elections With Strong Endorsements for Omena Cash

The National Association of Government Approved Freight Forwarders (NAGAFF) officially flagged off its chapter electioneering campaigns on Wednesday, June 24, 2026, with the Apapa chapter taking center stage. Chief Obinali Emeka, popularly known as Omena Cash, launched his chairmanship campaign before a mammoth crowd of freight forwarders and supporters, signaling the start of what promises to be a decisive contest at Nigeria’s busiest port.

Addressing the gathering, NAGAFF Founder, Dr. Boniface Okechukwu Aniebonam, showered encomiums on the association’s National President, High Chief Emmanuel Tochukwu Ezisi, crediting him with the acquisition of the NAGAFF Village — a landmark achievement that ended years of tenancy for the association.

He also commended Alhaji Ibrahim Tanko, National Coordinator of the NAGAFF 100 Percent Compliance Team, for his tireless efforts and organizational role in the day’s event. Fondly describing Tanko as his “third son,” Aniebonam highlighted his dedication to the association’s growth.

Though absent, Dr. Segun Musa, the longest-serving chapter chairman at Murtala Muhammed Airport, was equally recognized. Aniebonam noted that Musa’s legacy and foundational work at the Airport chapter remain visible, underscoring the continuity of leadership within NAGAFF.

Turning to the Apapa chairmanship race, Aniebonam’s remarks carried a tacit endorsement of Omena Cash. His words were met with chants of “Incoming Chairman” from the crowd, a clear indication that the aspirant enjoys strong backing from both grassroots members and influential power blocs.

Adding weight to this endorsement, Alhaji Tanko publicly declared Omena Cash as his protégé, expressing confidence in his ability to lead Apapa — the largest port in West Africa. Tanko emphasized the need for youthful leadership, contrasting Omena Cash’s candidacy with his opponent, a former KLT chapter chairman of eight years. “It is time to give the younger generation a chance,” Tanko asserted.

In his address, Omena Cash pledged to introduce innovations and tackle the pressing challenges faced by freight forwarders. He promised reforms that would strengthen Apapa’s chapter’s position within the freight forwarding sector, ensuring that the chapter remains competitive against sister associations, as well as ensuring that members operate within the confine of the law without harassment and intimidation.

Judging by the massive turnout of supporters and the presence of top NAGAFF leaders, Omena Cash’s campaign kickoff has set a strong tone. His combination of grassroots appeal, generational backing, and founder-level endorsement suggest that his candidacy is positioned for significant traction as the elections unfold.
