PTML Customs Reaffirms Support for COWA as Nabila Miko Assumes Leadership
The Customs Area Controller of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Ports and Terminal Multiservices Limited (PTML) Command, Deputy Comptroller NI Miko, has pledged continued support for the Customs Officers’ Wives Association (COWA), describing the group as a vital partner in promoting officers’ welfare and family stability.
Speaking at the handover ceremony of the PTML Chapter on Wednesday, Miko emphasized the association’s role in ensuring stability at home, which he noted directly enhances service delivery.
“A stable home is the foundation of effective service delivery. While we officers are engaged in revenue collection, trade facilitation, and anti-smuggling, you ensure our homes remain peaceful and productive. For that, we remain grateful,” he said.
Miko commended the immediate past Chairperson, Mrs. Ifeoluwa Anani, for impactful projects during her tenure and congratulated the new Chairperson, Hajiya Nabila Nura Miko, expressing confidence in her ability to build on existing achievements.
He assured the new leadership of the Command’s unwavering support, promising assistance in logistics, venues, and moral backing. He also praised the National President of COWA, Mrs. Kikelomo Adeniyi, for her commitment to strengthening chapters nationwide.
Nabila Miko’s Vision
In her acceptance speech, Hajiya Nabila Nura Miko pledged to consolidate past successes while advancing initiatives focused on strengthening support systems for officers’ families, expanding skills acquisition and financial independence programmes, as well as deepening impact through health, education, and environmental initiatives.
She highlighted achievements such as International Women’s Day celebrations, health sensitization workshops, breast cancer awareness campaigns, end-of-year outreach, participation in the Green Border Initiative School Adoption programme, and environmental sensitization lectures.
Paying tribute to her predecessor, she said:
“Mrs. Anani served with passion and integrity, and the impact of her tenure is visible across our programmes. I am committed to building on her achievements while breaking new ground for the promotion of COWA objectives.”
Nabila Miko called for cooperation from members, Command management, and stakeholders to achieve the chapter’s objectives.
