Ogun 2027: PDP Ticket Missing as INEC Publishes Governorship Candidates’ List
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ogun State has been thrown into uncertainty following the omission of its governorship candidate, Oladipupo Adebutu, and running mate, Yemi Kolapo-Sowunmi, from the final list of candidates released by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for the February 6, 2027 governorship election.
An examination of the list published by INEC on Saturday showed that 13 governorship candidates and their running mates were cleared to contest the election on the platforms of various political parties, with the PDP conspicuously absent.
Neither Adebutu nor Kolapo-Sowunmi featured in the published document, raising questions about the status of the party’s ticket ahead of the poll.
INEC has yet to provide an official explanation for the omission, while speculation that Adebutu’s name might have been excluded from the party register submitted to the commission remains unconfirmed.
The development comes despite the PDP’s earlier presentation of Adebutu as its governorship candidate, with Kolapo-Sowunmi as his running mate.
Their absence from the list has cast doubt on the party’s participation in the forthcoming election, pending clarification from INEC and the PDP.
Among the candidates listed by the commission is Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola of the All Progressives Congress (APC), alongside Lawal Jimmi Adebisi of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) Ogun 2027: PDP Ticket Missing as INEC Publishes Governorship Candidates’ List
