Miko Urges Professionalism, Teamwork, lmproved Service Delivery at PTML’s Training for Senior Customs Officers

The Acting Customs Area Controller of Port & Terminal Multiservices Limited (PTML) Area Command of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Deputy Comptroller Nura Ibrahim Miko, has urged officers to imbibe professionalism, teamwork for improved service delivery.

The Acting Controller spoke at PTML’s organized leadership Training for Senior Customs Officers held
as part of efforts to strengthen professionalism, teamwork and effective service delivery.

A statement by the Public Relations Officer of the Command, CSC Abdullahi Tsafe Abubakar, stated that the seminar was held on Tuesday, August 11, 2026, at the Command’s Conference Hall.

Organised in line with the vision of the Comptroller-General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, PhD, MFR, the programme was designed to build a more efficient, motivated and service-oriented workforce.

Declaring the seminar open, the Acting Area Controller of the Command, Deputy Comptroller Nura Ibrahim Miko, stressed that effective leadership was critical to achieving the Service’s core mandates of revenue generation, trade facilitation and suppression of smuggling.

Miko said the Command remained committed to initiatives that promote the welfare, health and productivity of officers, including the recently commenced Work-Life Balance Initiative.

Participants were taken through sessions on strategic leadership, effective communication, decision-making, conflict management and ethical conduct.

Miko delivered the first session, titled “Leadership and Followership: Building a Culture of Collaboration and Excellence,” where he emphasised the importance of teamwork and collaboration achieving organisational objectives.

Urging participants to translate the lessons learnt into improved performance and service delivery within the Command, he
reassured stakeholders and members of the trading community of the Command’s commitment to professionalism, transparency and ease of doing business.

Participants at the seminar were drawn from the rank of Chief Superintendent of Customs to Deputy Comptroller of Customs.

A major highlight of the event was the presentation of Certificates of Excellence to two officers for their outstanding performance and dedication to duty.

The recipients were Assistant Comptroller J.O. Ezekuse, Officer-in-Charge, Mile 2 Gate, and Chief Superintendent of Customs C.A. Ibrahim, Officer-in-Charge, Legal Unit of the Command.

Miko commended the two officers for their diligence and encouraged other personnel to emulate their commitment to effective service delivery.

He said the Command had mechanisms to identify and reward diligence, selflessness and efficient service, urging all officers to continue giving their best in service to the country.

The seminar formed part of the Command’s efforts to strengthen leadership capacity and foster a culture of professionalism, accountability and collaboration among its senior personnel.

The initiative is also expected to contribute to improved service delivery, stronger stakeholder engagement and more efficient implementation of the Nigeria Customs Service’s mandate at the PTML Area Command.
